About Us

Jeff Kuntzman
After 28 years as a teacher, coach, and principal in the Texas public education system (12 years as a teacher/coach and 16 years as a principal), Jeff retired to create and develop Longhorn Insurance Group. The skills that he acquired and used to effectively manage large public schools is also relevant to his ability to help individuals and families make sound decisions regarding their risk factors and protection in the Life and Health Insurance industry.

Straight Talk and Honesty
His many years of interacting with parents, teachers, and students prepared him to understand that people react to you better if you make it a habit of being straight with them and tell them what you honestly think and feel. Jeff will clearly communicate important concepts and he recognizes that actually listening to someone is just as important, especially when it comes to insurance that is protecting someone’s future.

Trust
Because a car repair shop 20 years ago told him that he really didn’t need a new brake job, Jeff has taken his vehicles to the same shop since then. Giving people truthful information so that they can make decisions that may affect their life is more important than making commissions on a sale, and that is the fundamental basis behind Longhorn’s approach to the insurance industry. “We try to help individuals and businesses to make sound decisions about what they should consider paying considerable money for – and to consider cutting expensive features that may not be cost-effective for them.” Because of this philosophy, Jeff has acquired a growing and loyal clientele of individual clients, many of them small business owners or individual contractors just like him.

No Corporate “Insurance-Speak”
Jeff takes sometimes complicated insurance and risk management issues and discusses them without unnecessary industry jargon.  “People have a right to make their own decisions about how to manage their risk. I listen to their situation and will outline a set of options. At some point in the conversation it’s appropriate to suggest a course of action and I’m certainly willing to do that.  However, I also understand that insurance is sometimes about intangibles, like peace of mind.  That’s why the listening component is so important in working with a client.”People want honesty, straight talk, helpful information, and expert advice to help them make decisions about the types of insurance they should have to protect their family’s future.

That’s what we provide at Longhorn Insurance Group.
